Spring Break Week, April 2019
MONDAY, April 22- 11:00 am. Celebrate Earth- paint a terra cotta pot and plant a flower to celebrate Earth Day! Registration required, all ages welcome, parental assistance requested for children under 8.
TUESDAY, April 23- Mad Hatter Tea Party -a parent/child all ages event to celebrate spring. Beginning at 12 noon, play games and enjoy treats and tea and a short talk about children in Victorian England. Registration required, spaces are limited, sign-up opens on April Fools Day- of course!
WEDNESDAY, April 24 – Music With Mr. Mike- Music for kids of all ages. 10:30 am
THURSDAY, April 25- 6:00 pm. Guest artist Jan Kolesar will lead “The Water Lilies Project” inspired by famous impressionist Claude Monet. Every beating heart becomes a part of Paris in the spring! For kids age 8 and up, registration required.
FRIDAY, April 26- 11am – For The Birds – welcome our migrating friends back by making popsicle stick bird feeders and learning fun facts about local birds. You can be a birder in your own backyard with our take-home list of local birds. Registration required, all ages welcome with parental assistance for children under 8.
Springing into Summer!!
Join us for Storytime- Mondays and Tuesdays starting at 10:30 am- all ages welcome! There will be songs, stories and activities on the felt board, two or more books read out loud, and a craft at the end. All children should be supervised and accompanied by parents at all times. If you have any requests, questions, suggestions, or anything you’re “working on”, please let Ms. Boo know!
May 6 and 7 - Baby Animals (and their Mommies)
Who doesn’t love baby animals? We’ll work on animal sounds and read stories about all types of baby animals and mommies.
Craft – Happy Mother’s Day handprints and cards. Be prepared to play with paint!
May 13 and 14 - Welcome Back, Birds!
Spring migration brings lots of new birds to the neighborhood! We’ll do some bird “activities”, read lots of bird stories, and get a backyard list for birdwatching at home.
Craft – paper plate bird’s nest – no paint.
May 20 and 21- Caterpillars and Butterflies
Exactly what the title says- stories about caterpillars turning into butterflies. Also, we’ll talk about changes, frogs and tadpoles, seasons, etc…
Craft - butterfly fans with jewels and paint.
May 28 (closed Memorial Day) – My Place In Space
Review shapes and colors as we read stories about earth and outer space. Also- learn about the summer reading program theme “A Universe Of Stories” and why we will celebrate the moon this summer.
Craft- rocket collage picture made with shapes. No painting!!
June 3 and 4 – Here Comes The Sun
We’ll read books about spring turning into summer and fun summer activities, plus learn some things about the sun.

June 10 and 11- These Are A Few Of My Favorite Books!
Ms. Boo picks out some of her favorite books to read, and she’ll read your favorite pick, too!
Craft - Favorite Books Pocket Magnet (some painting)
This summer, we will be focused on the Summer Reading Program and Storytime will be on break. Any child who has completed our “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” program can do the Summer Reading Program. For more information about these programs, ask your children’s librarian- Ms. Aimee or Ms. Boo! Storytime will resume in September.
EVERYONE is invited to our SRP kickoff event featuring “MAD SCIENCE”. It’s at RMMS on June 17th starting with a book swap when doors open at 5:30. While you’re waiting for the show, sign up for summer reading at the library! Mad Science starts at 6pm and is a free program for all ages.
Note: On painting days, we will offer smocks and you may want your child to wear clothes you don’t mind getting stained!
Come read to a furry, loving, listener who loves kids & stories! Hercules visits on the 1st Thursday of every month from 4:30 - 5:30 pm. To guarantee a spot, please sign up in the children’s room. Drop-ins are welcome if time allows.
From 6:00-7:00 pm on the 1st Thursday of the month, we will be wearing PJs, serving milk & cookies, and reading stories. Wear your pajamas and see if they are crazier than Ms. Boo’s! No registration required.
